Dr Chris Arthur spends his days supporting women through some of the most vulnerable and transformative chapters of their lives – through fertility, pregnancy, birth, loss, menopause and healing. These moments shape families and futures and he considers it a privilege to be invited into them.

Why Dr Arthur Chose Women’s Health

Dr Arthur chose to specialise in women’s health because it is a field where medicine and patient care intersect. Obstetrics and gynaecology is a speciality where science, surgery, communication and trust all play important roles. He values the opportunity to support women through key reproductive and gynaecological milestones that are significant and often highly personal.

His Approach to Care

Dr Arthur’s is passionate about women’s health and the provision of high‑quality, patient‑centred care. He has a strong interest in helping individuals and couples achieve their fertility goals and in managing a wide range of gynaecological concerns.

He provides a safe, thorough and considered approach for every patient, working together to find practical solutions to their concerns. He values clear diagnosis, supporting patients who are trying to conceive and helping manage conditions that affect day‑to‑day quality of life.

Training & Experience

After completing his medical degree at the University of Queensland, Dr Arthur spent his early postgraduate years working in hospitals across Southeast and Northern Queensland. He then moved to Ireland, spending two years in Dublin Emergency Departments, an experience that exposed him to a vast array of acute and sub‑acute medical and surgical presentations and strengthened his ability to perform under pressure.

Rural Practice & Community Care

Upon returning to Australia, Dr Arthur relocated to Mitchell in Western Queensland, working as a GP and rural hospital doctor. This period shaped his understanding of what it truly means to provide care for a community.

Specialist Training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology

After returning to Southeast Queensland, Dr Arthur commenced specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, committing fully to his passion for women’s health. In his senior training years, he undertook further subspecialty training in minimally invasive gynaecology, including laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery.

After attaining his Fellowship (FRANZCOG), Dr Arthur was appointed as a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Gold Coast University Hospital, a position he continues to hold. He also practices from the specialist suites and Pindara Private Hospital.

Additional Qualifications & Professional Contributions

Alongside his medical degree and specialist Fellowship, Dr Arthur has completed two Masters degrees:

  • Master of Sports Medicine - born from his love of sport as both participant and coach

  • Master of Reproductive Medicine - deepening his expertise in fertility care

He has published both individually and as part of large collaborations in peer‑reviewed journals. He relishes the opportunity to teach and train junior doctors entering and progressing through the specialty, and he is committed to providing high‑quality care to the greater Gold Coast community.
